Review of Cemetery Junction (2010) by Richard F — 26 Apr 2010
A great debut from Gervais and Merchant. If not overly original, the delivery is what makes it stand out and enjoyable. If there's one thing these two do well it's creating great characters that you enjoy watching and care for, and this film is no exception.
The cast on show is also superb from the younger newcomers, who convince as great friends who have shared much growing up together, to the more expereinced actors filling the supporting roles such as Ralph Fiennes and Emily Watson.
Evocative of certain classic British movies from the sixties such as 'Billy Liar' and 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning', this is a great British coming-of-age movie.
