Review of Cemetery Junction (2010) by Sarah Y — 04 Sep 2010
I like this. I like that Ricky Gervais is trying something a little different. I mean, it's still funny in parts, I don't think Gervais can't be funny really, but it's more serious. It regards it's characters and their struggles with sympathy and maybe even a little nostalgic longing. I don't really know what 'coming of age' means but I've heard this film is one of those type pics. Anyway, it's funny, got a good story, great acting, something to say about growing up and forgiveness.
It doesn't all work, but this is a great movie, certainly Gervais' best so far and shows real promise for him in the not so comedy department.
