Review of Cemetery Junction (2010) by John M — 05 Sep 2010
The first Ricky Gervais film for a while that is not just David Brent in another situation and place.
Coming of age tale of three lads (the cool headed one, the always angry one and the fat twat mate) fresh out of school not wanting to spend the rest of their lives in the same dead end Berkshire town.
The jokes are mainly written with hinsight to what has happened since the 70's, hence all the Elton John being a real man's man gags.
It has the feel of several British 70's sitcoms roled into one, but is helped by Ricky and co writing and only having minor parts letting the other take the stage.
P.S was it me or did Ralph Fiennes look like a dead ringer for Leonard Rossiter.
