Review of Cemetery Junction (2010) by James-Masaki R — 10 Dec 2010
Gervais and Merchant changed British comedy with The Office and Extras, and now they take their charge with a feature film, but not anything you'd expect, because it's equally a comedy and a drama film, and guess what? The two actually made it work.
It's hysterical in scenes, completely serious in tone in others, and is emotional on levels, and I'd say it's closer to a cross between "The Full Monty" and "Rebel Without A Cause", seriously.
This is the stuff that should be coming out of Britain more, and it was just really unfortunate that it completely failed. So much for what happens when expecations run in a different direction...
