Review of Cellular (2004) by Brandon M — 01 Jun 2008
Cellular may be seen as a terrible movie, and I'll even say that it's nothing to talk about, but it is not bad and in fact, I think it achieves its purpose as a simple film with action to keep the (passive) moviegoer entertained.
Statham has some decent action scenes and Macy doesn't do TOO bad, though this is disappointing for his reputation. Also, Chris Evans seemed very unemotional the first part of the film, and that continues on to the rest of the cast in that the acting in this film is not what it could have been.
I'm not going to talk about plot, because one could easily figure out that it's not gonna be good. And the one twist they have is VERY obvious barely halfway through the film. If you haven't seen it but are into Statham or some dramas that have take a stretch on plot, then check it out.
It's possibly worth a rental (what I did - though I'm a Statham fan) but I won't say it's recommended. I'll just say it's tolerable for select audiences.
