Review of Cellular (2004) by Prithviraj P — 19 Jan 2009
Standard thriller with no surprises and entertainment value while being watched, but not much to remember afterwards. Jason Statham here is villain and has some fun. He is a dirty American cop (with his trademark action signatures and Brit accent).
Kim Bassinger is the woman being kidnapped being held for ransom with Chris Evans as the hero who just stumbled into the scenario and William H Macy as the cop who investigating the case. We also get an early Jessica Biel too.
Someone thought that this was going to be a cutting-edge thriller with the advent and boom of mobile phones, but in the end, this is alright for a Saturday afternoon movie on a rainy day. The one standout scene is when Statham is at the airport and reveals himself to be police officer as he displays his badge.
