Review of Cellular (2004) by Spyros T — 03 Dec 2012
Predictable in it's plot and direction, Cellular is frankly laughable as it unfolds with each new twist. There's little to no character development and I honestly couldn't care if Kim Basinger's character makes it or not.
A silly subplot involving Macy's character and his efforts to help out his beautician wife, doesn't quite work and slows down any pacing left. There is no acting worth noting. Botoxed up Kim Basinger must have been told to act especially frail in this.
William H. Macy (bearing a magnificent moustache) misunderstands this and tries sincerely to act, as this film demands a below-comic-book level of acting. Villain Jason Statham makes the same mistake.
