Review of Celeste & Jesse Forever (2012) by Darwin P — 16 Sep 2012
I really enjoyed the complex emotions that the main and supporting characters exhibited, and how unexpectedly funny many of these situations were. Rashida Jones shines even when you don't like her character very much.
I wouldn't have picked Andy Samberg as someone who could pull this kind of film off, but he made things funny without making me sick of him (as I might have predicted). The supporting cast, again, is just delightful and made some of the film's best moments.
And overall, I just love another strong, honest, bittersweet addition to films that value human relationships, and reinforce that just because something doesn't last forever, that doesn't mean it's not worthwhile.
