Review of Celeste & Jesse Forever (2012) by Jason C — 12 Mar 2013
Celeste and Jesse Forever looked so funny in the previews that I had to go out of my way to see it. While still a good movie, it just wasn't what I was expecting.
It's not for lack of acting. Rashida Jones always plays a likable character. I'm not a huge fan of Andy Samberg, but he's a good fit for Celeste and Jesse. He and Jones have great chemistry. Messina and Graynor are entertaining in their supporting roles also. Emma Roberts is growing into a good/entertaining actress, and does well with the opportunity she's given.
The thing about Celeste and Jesse is that there was a sort of choppiness to it. I can't explain it exactly. The scenes progressed logically, but there were a few hiccups that kept the story from flowing smoothly. It was mostly what Jones' character was going through. The beginning was entertaining and funny, and it picked back up for a good ending, it was just a couple of things in-between that got a little sloppy.
Celeste and Jesse Forever was a good movie worth seeing... just later, when you don't have to pay for it.
