Review of Celeste & Jesse Forever (2012) by Simon M — 27 Jan 2014
Do you ever wonder after watching a film weather you liked it or not? Most often that is not the case, but in this instance I couldn't tell how I really felt about the movie. When they revealed the main plot point in the beginning of the movie I felt like it was something I didn't see coming after the first scene.
I was excited to see where this might go. But parts were predictable and flat, yet there were some good moments. One thing it lacked was just plain humor. I see Andy Sandberg and I think, it;'s at least going to be somewhat funny.
This is just about the most serious role I've ever seen him in and he provided no serious humor other than a couple "cute" scenes with some squeezable lip balm. So in the end, I didn't love the movie and I didn't hate it.
However It's a notch above most romantic comedies, a little smarter, better acted, and for a script written by Rashida Davis who is the female lead in this movie...well it's better written than say, Failure To Launch.
