Review of Celeste & Jesse Forever (2012) by Nicki M — 08 May 2014
If you're a Samberg or Rashida fan, this is a great movie. The chemistry between these two is great and gives their characters some real depth; the concept that was explored in comic fashion for "When Harry Met Sally" is put to a more dramatic test as to "what happens next" for two people who are such amazing friends and love each other, but struggle with being in love with each other and the ramifications it has on the other parts of their lives.
The romantic aspect of this film is very much on the surface, but we never really get a true background that lead to where they are "today", which may have given the storyline much more depth and meaning to viewers.
The ending was cathartic and semi-unexpected, but the point of the film was to look at two unique individual's relationship and how they grow through all of the pains of realizing that friendship has its limits and should be respected with the opposite sex, and if not, the dangers that accompany it.
