Review of Celebrity (1998) by Ben W — 11 Mar 2009
Another amazingly executed character study in the milieu of fellini. allen brings in an a huge cast to play small, quirky roles, branagh does his best to fill in as woodys usual character, but judy davis, just as in husbands and wives, gives a searing performance. its a complex film in structure, tone, and themes, but for the patient viewer they come together to give us yet another stellar film from the famous director.
I nearly had a heart attack when the director said that his next film was going to be birth of a nation with an all black cast. seriously, cardiac arrest was narrowly averted.
