Review of Celebrity (1998) by Andrew R — 20 Dec 2011
Woody Allen's Celebrity tells the story about the middle-aged journalist, Lee Simon (Kenneth Branagh) who just divorced his wife Robin Simon (Judy Davis) in order to fulfill his dreams before it's to late.
But soon finds out that he's life was actually easier before, while his wife starts to live a little and finds herself a handsome boyfriend, Tony Gardella (Joe Mantegna). Lee desperately wants to become a successful writer, but all his failed relationships, makes this who project impossible.
Celebrity isn't a very bad film, it has it's moments although it's constantly repeats itself some times. But Acting is quest good, specially Judy Davis' performance, while Kenneth Branagh fails to take Woody Allen's place as the neurotic main protagonist.
But still I give it a marginal thumbs up.
