Review of Cedar Rapids (2011) by Ken S — 20 Jul 2011
So, this little known movie packed some serious comedic talent with Helms and Reilly, along with legends Kurtwood Smith, Stephen Root, and Sigourney Weaver. I really enjoyed the character Helms played (Tim Lippe), who is an even more sheltered version of Stu from the Hangover, yet shows his acting range by being an emotionally unstable, clingy lover.
Reilly is, well, just Reilly. He takes his Step Brother's character and tosses it into this movie, although he had a lot of great lines, he did say a lot that just made his role annoying for the most part.
Isiah Whitlock was probably the best, playing a suburban insurance agent who is almost as low-key as Tim Lippe, except when duty calls. Anne Heche provides the female attraction role for Tim Lippe, and does pretty well.
Stephen Root, although his role is small in comparison, is really good, and Kurtwood Smith and Sigourney Weaver provide great backing for a little-know comedy I highly enjoyed.
