Review of Cedar Rapids (2011) by Mario S — 10 Aug 2011
Well, I just remember seeing the preview for this a few months ago and then not hearing anything else about it for weeks. So I put it on my Netflix and forgot about it, until it showed up in my mail. It turns out that this is actually a pretty funny film, albeit forgettable, but still funny.
It's almost as if this is the Stu-only version of 'The Hangover'. Ed Helms (The Hangover: Part II) is hilarious as the insurance salesman out of his league, and John C. Reilly (The Thin Red Line) is equally as funny as the insurance salesman who thinks he's in a league bigger than it actually is.
Also, the supporting turns by Anne Heche (The Other Guys), Kurtwood Smith ("That 70s Show"), Sigorney Weaver (You Again), and Isaiah Whitlock Jr. (Enchanted) are great. It's not as shocking as 'The Hangover' and not as spot on as it could have been, but it's still got quite a bit of laughs and heart for such a low-budget, predictable flick.
