Review of Cedar Rapids (2011) by Nathan E — 29 Nov 2011
Cedar Rapids is a film that grows in your heart the more you sit through it. What starts out feeling like a conventional comedy ends up being a heartfelt look at the breaking down of one's false perception of what is real.
A morally righteous small town insurance agent steps out of his comfort zone for the first time in his life and discovers the realities of the world we live in today, a world filled with greed and apathy.
He discovers that the people he looked up to the most are nothing more than deceivers and backstabbers, and that the people who at first seem like monstrosities to him are the ones who will be by his side for the rest of his life.
Excellent casting, pacing and memorable scenes make this comedy one of the best of the year thus far.
