Review of Cedar Rapids (2011) by Sol C — 22 Jan 2012
The film was so so. They had a good idea for a film, but they didn't execute it correctly. The tone is off. It kind of feels like a TV sitcom at times, kind of like the office. It also reminded me a little of Up in the Air. I also feel that some of the cast were miscasted in the film.
Ed Helms was better in the Hangover films than this film. I could have seen Ricky Gervais, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, or Steve Carrell do a much better job in that role. Sigourney Weaver seems out of place in this film. John C. Reilly steals the film. Anne Heche also does a great job in the film, but lacks chemistry with Helms. Isiah Whitlock Jr. also does a great job in the film. The film does have good funny moments in it.
