Review of Cedar Rapids (2011) by Tylor B — 11 Apr 2012
Cedar Rapids is a mostly by the numbers comedy, but it does have some decently fleshed out characters that keep this from falling into the usual comedy traps. The story is a typical fish out of water tale that has been told many a time before.
It does have a few differences, but nothing major and you'll know where the story is going before it gets there. The movie's true sucess is it's characters. They don't fit neatly into typical types and they devlope as the plot moves forward.
The comedy does have moments and some of the humour is dick and fart jokes, but not to the overbearing extent that most comedies of this era do. I can't say I found this to be laugh out loud funny, but it did entertain.
One worth seeing, but don't go out of your way to see it.
