Review of Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010) by Joe D — 25 May 2011
I went into the theater unsure if I was going to like this, but I found it all rather amazing, especially since I knew nothing about this cave or the art found there. Seeing it in 3-D made me feel like I was in the cave, and given that the cave is off limits to almost everyone, that is as close as I will ever come to experiencing the art first hand.
As I watched the movie I found myself reflecting quite a bit on what it means to be human, as it really shows how much the human urge to express ourselves creatively and artistically is clearly so essential to our nature.
Not only were people creating art 30,000 years ago, but they were doing so in the midst of an ice age when just surviving from day to day must have taken up a significant amount of their time and energy.
