Review of Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010) by Matthew T — 31 May 2011
Ever wanted to be humbled, awed, and reminded of the vast history that stretches back before modern day humans? Then watch this slow and often meditative documentary by the incomparable Werner Herzog where he joins scientists and explorers as they journey into Chauvet Cave, which holds in its depths the earliest recorded artwork created by humans more than 30,000 years ago.
Don't expect an explanation of the cave drawings, but rather join the explorers as they marvel and awe and ask the very same questions you might have while watching the film. 3D is so well suited for films like this that rely on depth and clarity to make sure the material really comes through.
