Review of Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010) by Jay K — 29 Oct 2011
A fascinating look at possibly the oldest cave paintings by human hand in this Werner Herzog documentary. Allowed unprecedented access to the Chauvet Cave in France, Herzog clearly brings passion to proceedings.
The paintings are full of wonder and awe and his presentation successfully conveys the majesty of the incredibly well preserved images. Undoubtedly the uniqueness of the caves and the age of the artwork is what makes Cave of Forgotten Dreams so interesting and the film is important as a record.
On most other counts, watching in 2D it must be noted, it's nothing special as a feature film.
