Review of Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010) by Dan K — 27 Dec 2011
Unlike any broadcast network documentary, Werner Herzog's documentaries on nature and human history embrace Herzog's own personal fascination. Like most of Herzog's, Cave is rife with a singular unleveled style that sometimes comes off as humorously unintentional.
But it is intentional: Herzog shows us on the screen how he wonders about the origins of our own humanity. Cave of Forgotten Dreams is fascinating because Herzog is fascinated.
