Review of Catch That Kid (2004) by Ryan T — 15 Nov 2009
Meh, this film wasn't especially bad, but it wasn't good either, and I have to say that it's just below average. The premise is interesting although I haven't seen the original film this is based on.
The thing at annoyed me the most was the implausibility of the kids, and although they try to make them seem more realistic as children, it's pathetic when the dialogue sounds like something you'd here in an Adult Caper film like Ocean's 11 or the Italian Job.
The attempts at throwing in a preteen romance triangle is predictable and unconvincing. The comedy doesn't work mostly, but the acting from the children wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. It's not going to be regarded as one of the best family films ever, but I wouldn't say avoid it completely, cause chances are you're kids will enjoy it even if it's way too immature for adults.
