Review of Catch Me If You Can (2002) by Jeremy B — 17 Nov 2012
Easily one of my favorite movies. A truly great storyline with well-developed characters and plot. Granted it's based on true events, but it was in finding such an unbelievable story to bring to the big screen that is amazing to me, and more so how Spielberg did it -- it's what makes him one of the best movie directors that ever lived, even for a movie as non-serious when compared to some of his other movies, to include "Saving Private Ryan" and "Schindler's List.
" It's incredible how under normal circumstances such a criminal as Abagnale would be despised by people for what he did, however Spielberg transformed him into a character you could almost root for to get away.
It is a great depiction of how one's innocence coupled with one's development can drive someone to do what he ultimately did, another reason you could almost relate to Abagnale. To say the least this was the one movie that changed my opinion of Leonardo diCaprio's ability to do anything on-screen.
