Review of Catch Me If You Can (2002) by Ryan L — 30 May 2012
If this isn't one of the most fun movies I've ever seen I don't know what is. What Catch Me If You Can shows us is what happens when just everything falls into place. Like The Social Network this is a perfect combination of incomparable directing, brilliant writing, stellar casting/acting, and all around perfect execution.
This is Spielbergs last AMAZING movie. He's had a few good ones sense, but nothing as compared to this. It is fun, suspenseful, exciting, and above all we feel for Frank. When he hears about his fathers death we FEEL for him.
This movie really does have a lot of heart and a big part of that is Leonardo DiCaprio. Now I'm not Leo's biggest fan, in fact most of his stuff I'm not a fan of. But with this and Gangs of New York he's in two of my favorite movies ever, with Gangs in my mind being one of the finest movies made in the last 20-30 years.
Everything just fell into place with this movie and why shouldn't it, that's the power of Spielberg. He just puts movies together like it's no ones business. Nothing flashy, or over artistic about what he does, it's just the fact that everything is done to an extremely high professional level that is just rarely matched.
If you really want a fun adventure movie that will make you laugh, and feel tense, and suspense, this movie should really be at the top of your list.
