Review of Catch Me If You Can (2002) by Brendon V — 14 Oct 2012
This is one of Spielbergs more overlooked films and a personal favorite of mine. Very rarely are "fun" films made this well. The direction is top notch. Speilberg perfectly re-creates the 60's with the characters moods, outfits and trends.
This was by far Jeff Nathanson's best written script. DiCaprio & Hanks clearly had a lot of fun making this. Their performances show it. The supporting characters are also great especially Walken.
The best thing about this is that Spielberg doesn't get overly sappy with the family storyline like he does in everything else. I can't think of anything I don't like about this movie. I've watched this probably 5 times and still enjoy every minute.
