Review of Catch Me If You Can (2002) by Sidney S — 12 Feb 2012
In what may be the best film of 2002, Steven Speilberg brings to the big screen the incredible true story of a teenager who before his 21st birthday conned millions of dollars through check fraud as a pilot, doctor and lawyer, his name was Frank Abagnale Jr.
The title says it all as it is a truly unique and exhilarating game of cat and mouse between Frank and Carl, the FBI agent out to catch him. Leonardo DiCaprio lights up the screen with his charisma and suave as Frank in no doubt one of his best performances of his career, a Golden Globe nominated performance.
He truly lead you to believe that he was a master of charm, deception, lies and ultimately a great con artist. Tom Hanks was perfectly casted as Carl Hanratty, the agent assigned to this case, who time after time has been fool by Frank.
Its supporting cast from Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen and Amy Adams all suited their roles with their fine performances. The 60's atmosphere was accurate and the jazzy score helped bring to life this atmosphere.
Filming on a grand scale. Also I really liked the inclusion of James Bond, Goldfinger in the film and Frank's deception as "Barry Allen", The Flash's alter ego, that was really cool.
