Review of Catch Me Daddy (2015) by Mique W — 03 Mar 2015
I dont like the term self indulget but I cant think of a better one. The acting was strong, although I did found the lead extremely irritating.
They are trying hard to capture the feeling of the place and they do, to an extent but they go too far. You start to think, "have they just cast people because they have odd faces?". It starts to feel a bit contrived. The plot doesn't hang together, its one of those british films, where just everyone seem to die eh..just because.Infact for no apparent reason some of the time. It isnt in a rush to explain itself or the motivations or relationships behind the characters. (That would be too fucking mainstream). But it just leaves too many blanks for you to care. For example, its touching on some cultural issues but doesnt quite explain them. Like why does he do what he does to his daughter? Some missed oppurtunities for engaging scenes..(scene in the club is just messy, where it could have played well).
