Review of Catch a Fire (2006) by Joe T — 28 Jul 2007
With a film depicting something as important as the historical situation that inspired the story behind this film, it's hard to not want to be impressed. Such struggles are intensely human and any understanding of this particular history obviously adds to the picture.
Given that, Catch A Fire presents a unique protagonist who is fairly difficult to warm up to at first, if at all. Calling the film thought-provoking or insightful would be quite fair. The vierwer's reactions to the plot on-screen may detract from enjoying the movie; the piece is emotionally confusing, gritty at points, though generally easy to follow and fairly well acted.
