Review of Catch-22 (1970) by James W — 27 Jul 2006
An excellent adaptation of an almost un-adaptable book. Mike Nichols succeeds in bringing the time jumping nonsense and satirical hilarity of the book to life in the film. Alan Arkin is great as the tortured Yossarian who tries to plead insanity but doing that they prove they are not insane and get sent straight back to the frontline-catch 22.
Orson Welles also gives a great cameo performance.
