Review of Catch-22 (1970) by Sven J — 02 Aug 2016

I wanted to like this film. It has an amazing cast of wonderful actors who do a solid job iand some very impressive scenes, particularly for 1970. Arkin is particularly good as the lead. What starts with some good comedy, quickly changes into a negative depressing political statement.

In the end, I want to be able to enjoy a film. The focus on the greed and stupidity of human beings and the message of anti-capitalism and anti-war ultimately leave me less than entertained. I have no sense of feeling for any of the characters, and leave the film feeling I wasted the past 2 hours.
