Review of Catacombs (2007) by Natalie A — 01 Aug 2008
I can't believe how badly this movie messed itself up. The idea of setting a horror film in the Paris catacombs is fantastic, and yet this movie manages to completely avoid milking their potential.
It sets itself up to be a slasher flick (which was surprising in itself - I was expecting ghosts or subterranean monsters), but then completely ditches its villain and proceeds to follow the heroine as she runs around in the dark for an hour, mostly by herself, and does a lot of nothing.
It's long, it's boring, and the "twist" ending is, while mildly entertaining, not worth the effort of making it through the movie.
