Review of Cat People (1942) by Jason R — 15 Sep 2010
Slow, atmospheric horror movie. Some of the camera work on this movie was interesting and the director's attempts to avoid showing anything worked well (the pool scene is good...they reused the idea it in the 1982 remake).
The attempts to psychoanalyze the character also is a "new" different thing for movies at the time and the film's attempt to dance around the basic issue (Simone Simon's character isn't intimate with her husband) without talking about it provides some fun.
