Review of Cat Ballou (1965) by Tim M — 30 Jun 2009
I know why Lee Marvin won an Oscar for this movie. He was able to break free of his stern, tough guy image and make a giant buffoon of himself. This film also sends an interesting anti-violent message and makes a mockery of everything that makes an established western (nine years before Mel Brooks attempted a similar approach with Blazing Saddles).
Anti-Westerns are fantastic when done right, and this film hits it dead center.
