Review of Casualties of War (1989) by Antony W — 06 Sep 2007
For a Vietnam war film, I found this movie pretty heavy, as most people would. It's a pretty simple story presented very compellingly. Even though it seems that every war film seems to be anti-war, or over-negative (as we may perceive war to be one-sided anyway) these stories still need to be told.
It's yet another reminder of the horrors we have created, and a horrific example of the evil that can overtake us. As cliched as it sounds, we still need to remember these stories/films to enlighten ourselves from time to time.
As subjective as a movie like 'Casualties of War' may be, we can't base our opinion of a historic happening from one incident. The story within this war serves as an example of the weakness of man to have a strong grip on reality in times that we need to lead.
