I love most of the actors, and I've enjoyed Kiriya's shorter works. The visuals were stunning. But this movie was a steaming pile of shit. Pretty shit, mind you, but still shit. The plot makes no sense, and the script is ridiculous (even outside of the bogus subtitle job on the US DVD).
Very stylish, but even with the absurd philosophization, there is no substance here.
