Review of Casshern (2004) by Adam D — 15 Feb 2008
Beautiful. Between the technological aesthetic (which is totally Steam, and thusly, in my eyes, totally bitching) and the film's passionate overture for peace, forgiveness, and other good life-affirming stuff, it had my heart from the opening shot. The cgi is teh diche and the use of color adjustment and nauseating camera filters was actually pretty cool, albeit crazy-making. The denouement is, of course, just gnarly. This is a film I never knew existed until last week Thursday, and I can say without a doubt it's not to be missed.
Maybe not for everyone. Some people don't have much imagination, it's true.
