Review of Casshern (2004) by Joel G — 15 Jun 2009
What the hell! Now, I've watched many intense psycho-dramas with underlying themes that have kept others in question and I've never had a problem understanding them. However, this film had me so confused at times, it made it really difficult to enjoy.
Everything was just really overdone to make it come across smart and intricate to the point where you just get bored then. It felt like an episode of LOST. haha. There were so many plot twists and moments of revelation, that you'd swear this was written my M.
Night Shamylan. I mean, come on. And much of the story didn't have keep aspects involved with the old show. There's no story or plot consistency. Of a lot of things, I didn't like the choreographed fighting; that could have been much more fluid instead of sporadic flashes of the characters attacking each other.
As for characters, the original Casshern character had many internal struggles with himself and his ideals towards the humans, and there was none in here that really made me think, which made his character development very weak.
Oh, and a very lame version of the suit. So much for the iconic helmet. And probably the worst of all... Neo-Sapiens? Wtf! I expected a robot army led by a ROBOT! It would have been much better to have a robot like the Black King.
There was irony and stronger ideals to that villain, considering how he was wiping out the human race to allow planet Earth to flourish once again. These villains were terrible! I can't even tell you what the fuck happened in the end.
Next thing you know, people are dying and suddenly our characters are shot across the universe and the movie ends. What the hell even happened?! Ugh. I like the show, but fuck this movie. I don't wanna watch this one again.
I do not recommend this to anyone due to the headache I have from it.
