Review of Casshern (2004) by Jesse D — 12 Mar 2010
Okay, after doing a little research, the American release of this cut 24 minutes from the film. I've never seen the cut version and have no reason to, since I own the Japanese DVD.
It's an enjoyable film with some gore. Definitely style over substance, but it's fun to watch and doesn't get ridiculous with its message, unlike most Japanese media. The art direction and use of color and filters almost make it more of an art film than an action movie about neo-sapiens and a robot army.
I don't think I can recommend the American version on principle, but if you can find an import copy, give it a watch.
