Whoever this director is, he was Zak Snyder before Zak Snyder was Zak Snyder. This is a stunning yet barren (only due to its length, not lack of intelligence, I promise you) fantasy epic done completely on a computer ;) Think 300, Sucker Punch, Sin City, etc.
It's an anime/RPG-like studypiece on human conflict. Casshern is artsy philosophy done as a music video. Could've been a 5-star movie but it's just inexcusably too long. However, it's pure audiovisual wizardry.
..it'll take you beyond this world. Or else you'll hate it, I could see that too. Easily. One or the other but I was on the "wow" side.
