Review of Cassandra's Dream (2007) by Cheri H — 21 May 2010
A real slow burner, this is a little gem of a film...
I wasn't sold on the film at the beginning, it felt a little arkward and misjudged, however when the story picks up pace it becomes quite intoxicating.
There isn't anything that original about the story, but the characters are interesting and it was good to see McGregor and Farrell doing something a little more personal. I was surprised with McGregor. I wasn;t sure about his performance at first, but again, as the film progresses we begin to see how deeply flawed this character is and cGregor does a grand job of bringing this to the screen. The standout is Farrell however.... He is terrific as Terry. When his world comes crashing in around him, Farrell makes you feel for this guy despite what he has done and that is a pretty impresive feat.
Overall, as with Match Point, Woody has produced another understated and engrossing fllm.
