Review of Casper (1995) by Ryan V — 25 Mar 2012
Casper, based on a cheaply made cartoon, is about a gentle ghost that bonds with a young girl (Christina Ricci) who moves into his old house. Their bond is tested by Casper's vulgar uncles, the girl's conniving relatives, and a secret machine that can resurrect the dead.
As expected, this film is just as sappy and uninteresting as the old comics and cartoons that it derives its star character from. I wouldn't recommend watching this film unless you're indiscriminately nostalgic for Casper or have a weirdly intense fondness for Bill Pullman.
