Review of Casper (1995) by Glenn C — 02 Dec 2009
Amazing film, Casper is a character that anyone growing up in the last 2 generations could say was a favorite of theirs. To have it bought onto the big screen by Steven Spilberg is a huge treat.
When I first saw this film I fell in love with it. It had a great premise, the score and soundtrack was soft and calming with all the emotions. It shed light on all the characters place in their world.
The acting done by Christina Ricci is great, she was fresh out of her Addams Family committed and managed to get out unscathed and not be type cast. Her presence in the film is beautiful, as she is very beautiful. She makes a great connection with Casper, considering there was nothing for her to act off of(except maybe an offscreen marker)its impressive how well she acted to nothing.
Bill Pullman is fantastic as Cat's dad and Casper and the Trio's psychiatrist. He plays the dad role very well and makes a convincing performance even better in the emotional scenes.
The bad guys or girl should I say are bad, they make no bones about it and don't try to act like anything else. Also you may notice a Ghostbusters III type cameo done by Dan Akyroyd.
I will recommend this film for anyone who loves a good time.
4 out of 5 stars.
TRIVIA:
A Music video for Remember Me This Way by Jordan Hill was made for the film, but as far as I know isn't on the DVD.
SOUNDTRACK SONG I HAVE:
Jordan Hill-Remember Me This Way.
