Review of Casper (1995) by Deb S — 29 Aug 2010
The plot involves the villainous Carrigan Crittenden (Cathy Moriarty) and her bumbling sidekick Dibbs (Eric Idle) inheriting an abandoned mansion with supposedly an hidden treasure, only to find out that it's inhabited by some people-hating ghosts, Stretch, Fatso, Stinkie and Casper.
After a few failed attempts to get rid of these spirits, they hire a spiritual psychologist Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman), to exorcise the crumbling manor of its ghosts. Christina Ricci plays his Kat, his daughter who accompanies him on his quest and ends up befriending Casper, the friendly nephew.
Great cameos of Clint Eastwood, Rodney Dangerfield, Dan Aykroyd and Mel Gibson. I thought it was a cute movie with that most beloved cartoon character and I loved the scene where Casper came to Kat at the dance, fully personified, danced with her and then kissed her!
