Review of Casino Royale (2006) by Donny M — 16 Dec 2012
An extremely intense movie. Great great action and fight scenes throughout, and I was completely captivated. The plot kept you just enough in the loop of what was going on but you really had to put two-and-two together sometimes to fully understand and follow along, which isn't necessarily a bad thing - just that they're expecting the audience to have some upper-level thinking.
The only time I wasn't completely enthralled in the plot and trying to figure out what was going to happen next was towards the end, when there was one scene with Bond and his love interest that seemed to drag on and on and it made me more annoyed-anxious and happily anticipating what was going to happen.
Despite that, Bond was a legit secret agent, killing and fighting people left and right. The end scene with a building collapsing was one of the most memorable. Craig did a great job - the one scene that could have been the most boring was very entertaining, when they were playing poker.
It's such a hard thing to film a poker game because it would be boring, but watching facial reactions and everything that was going on behind the scenes made it good.
