Review of Casino Royale (1954) by Kevin M — 13 Nov 2015
Why do people love this one so much? Is it just because it's dark and brooding? I don't feel like this is a James Bond film, it feels too much like something else, like Bourne or other spy films at the time.
No Moneypenny, no Q, little of M, a Bond actor that doesn't act, no fun-it's a plot that makes little sense and a bunch of action scenes and one really uncomfortable torture scene. It went too far in the dark direction in my opinion and it was a long time before I felt we could still get real Bond films.
Thanks Skyfall!
