Review of Casino (1995) by Patrick S — 06 Jun 2013
Mobsters, money and good music. De Niro portrays a Casino mogul who's empire is endangered. The direction, cinematography, cast and soundtrack are fantastic. Casino is ridiculously long, nearly hitting the three hour mark on the dot.
However the story is fascinating enough to hold ones attention. I'd expect many comparisons to "Goodfellas", so I will just say that Casino is it's own separate entity. There are some similarities, but as it's own film it holds up.
Good violence, strong plot and great cast. Sharon Stone is very sexy and psychotic, although I will admit I got tired of her screaming after the second hour of this long film. She was a bit much to handle, but definitely got into the role and pulled off annoying/crazy perfectly.
Casino is an epic mobster masterpiece that is pretty darn cool.
