Review of Casino (1995) by Matt S — 03 Jan 2014
The first of Scorcese's post-Goodfellas films which comes off as self-indulgent and somewhat bloated. Whilst not compelling enough to warrant the three hour runtime, there are solid performances from Pesci and DeNiro with Sharon Stone in easily her best role as the hustler turned drug-addled wife.
Scorcese plays many of the same hands he used to such tremendous effect in "Goodfellas" and as such his direction often feels trite.
