Review of Cashback (2007) by Sébastien P — 05 May 2009
The first half was quite interesting and poetic. The first person narrative probably helps in that regard. It also introduces a lot of quirky characters. Unfortunately, the second half is weaker and doesn't fullfill expectations.
However, the several moments of pure grace in this film, helped by the wonderful soundtrack, counter the few weaknesses. Yes there are several naked women but it works in the context of the story although some might seem gratuitous.
Overall, it made me think of the french film "Amélie" from a heterosexual male perspective but less inspired.
