"The funniest movie you will ever read.".

Where to start with this one? Casa De Mi Padre is a genre-mash hybrid, that is, its got elements of many genres including old school Mexican films, American Westerns and others, but ultimately, in a wierd way, its a spoof on the telenovela. Telenovelas were popular in Central American countries and Mexico, they were similar, but differed in some ways to American soap operas. Now to the film, its a wierd one and it has a style thats all its own. Director Matt Piedmont has crafted quite an unusual spoof film here, and thats putting it lightly. I said earlier, Casa De Mi Padre is a genre mash, theres alot going on in the hour and a half runtime. The humor in this film is most definately not for everyone, I found some of it funny, but most of the humor in this film just didnt hit my funny bone. Its worth a look for the sheer originality of it, but thats about it.

Will Ferrell does well throughout the film, and strangely enough his Spanish is quite good. Its not your typical Will Ferrell humor and most definately not your typical Will Ferrell film. The supporting cast does well too, but all in all theres nothing all that special about this film.
